16/17 Voleos Circular and Linear: Solo Practice

Ex1 Do our Cardio Voleo workout. If you want to do it without the cardio, just turn off the sound, use slower music and do it at your own pace. Watch the details video for technique.

Ex2 Now without music, walk around using steps, rebotes and ochos in every direction and adding a circular or linear voleo after every third step. Following the voleo, project and step with the leg that made the voleo. (Don’t worry about pro and contra.) For marks, you’ll be dancing as a Revel, but the point here is to explore the improvisational possibilities, realizing that you can mark a voleo after any step.

Ex3 Repeat Exercise 2 with music, using a series of three very different songs that give you different sensations and feelings. Explore different dynamics (speed and size) in your voleos.

16/17 Voleos Circular and Linear: Pair Practice

Ex1 Do our Cardio Voleo workout working alongside one another. If you want to do it without the cardio, just turn off the sound, use slower music and do it at your own pace. Watch the details video for technique.

Ex2 Now without music and working alone, walk around using steps, rebotes and ochos in every direction and adding a circular or linear voleo after every third step. Following the voleo, project and step with the leg that made the voleo. (Don’t worry about pro and contra.) For marks, you’ll be dancing as a Revel, but the point here is to explore the improvisational possibilities, realizing that you can mark a voleo after any step.

Ex3 Repeat Exercise 2 dancing together and with music, using a series of three very different songs that give you different sensations and feelings. Explore different dynamics (speed and size) in your voleos.
