2017 Impro: Front Sacadas
There are 48 sacadas
-
-
- 24 are Mark’s sacadas entering the Revel’s Step, 24 are Revel’s sacadas entering the Mark’s step
- The receiver has 6 possible steps (front, side, and back with each foot)
- The enterer has 4 ways to enter, front with each foot and back with each foot
- One of the back steps is called “The 4th Sacada”, it can only be completed with soltada (release of the embrace)
-
Technique
-
-
- Mark the Revel’s projection first
- For every sacada, it’s necessary to mark the Revel’s projection first
- Cooperate to transfer weight at the same time.
- Cooperate to transfer weight at the same time.
- The steps must be perpendicular. The line of the enterer’s step is always already known, it is the line between the two spines. The receiver must place their foot perpendicular (90 degrees) from that line.
- The steps must be perpendicular and enterer must cross the line between receiver’s feet. Allow lateral shoulder flexion to accommodate the step.
- The enterer must cross the line between the receiver’s feet. Allow lateral shoulder flexion to accommodate the step
-
Improvise with sacadas
-
- lines and circles
- exchanging mark’s and revel’s sacadas
- in circles: continuous direction or changing direction
- with and without changes of foot (easier is Mark’s, nice to use a cross. more advanced is Revel’s change of foot)
Improvise with 48 sacadas on lines, circles, with changes and continuous direction.
2017 Bio: Transfer of Weight for Back Sacadas
- Knee flexion of base determines size of the step: this varies
- Knee flexion as arriving to new leg is personal style (Vio prefers arriving to extended knee unless it is a very big powerful and step, which makes it impossible.
- hip flexion of base leg must be maintained at all times.
- use old base leg’s ankle extension through 3 positions of the foot in front and side steps. crank the new base leg’s quadriceps in back steps.
2017 Impro: Back Sacadas
Apologies that my dancing is very stiff in this video due to an aggravated an IT band, which makes back sacadas are probably the most painful thing I could try to do to it, so I’m barely moving in these videos.
In this class we do a series of exercises for becoming more comfortable with back sacadas.
When ready to improvise, remember the variables from the front sacadas class.
- Sacadas in the line of dance
- Sacadas on circles: maintaining a continuous direction or changing the direction
- Sacadas on circles: exchanging entry between mark and revel
