You’re too tired to contemplate putting on your shoes. You’re worn out by life. You want to cry, or scream, or get drunk. And it was a crazy day. There’s no time for dinner now. But the milonga beckons. Maybe you’ll feel better there? You remind yourself that last night did not make you feel better. But tonight might be different? What if that amazing dancer you love is there? What if few people go and your favorites are standing around. What if you miss a chance for multiple tandas with ______?

And you need to improve. You can’t slack off and lose your hard-won gains. You need every dance to practice and improve. Sometimes you wonder what is supposed to happen at the end of all this practice, but your experience so far suggests that the coming wonders of tango are always bigger than your imagination.

What if there’s a visitor here for just one night? What if this visitor is the partner you’ve been dreaming of? You could have the experience you’ve been yearning for. You could fall in love.

This is fantasy, and yet you know it’s not. You know that ecstasy is within your grasp. You just need to get over there. It’s the tango grind. Dont forget your shoes!
